Definition of a #GirlBoss
#GirlBoss. You hear this word and hashtag being thrown around a lot these days, but what does it mean? To me, a #GirlBoss means many things. It means an entrepreneur, it means a nice person, it means someone who stands up for both men and women and supports others. It means someone who is confident and not jealous. A #GirlBoss means being someone who isn’t afraid to take charge of their own life and own what they do. She is beautiful and inspiring. After reading this, are you a #GirlBoss? Anyone can be one. All you have to do is three things: be nice, inspire others with whatever it is that you do (as a mom, as a professional, as a kind person), and support others for no other reason than you want them to succeed.
Who Do I Consider A #GirlBoss?
I am blessed to know, or know from a distance, so many people that I consider to fall under this category. Starting as young as when I was born with my mom, to when I got older and met my first professional boss, Gela Nash-Taylor, founder of Juicy Couture. Those were my first two very different examples of what a #GirlBoss was. My mom was a selfless, loving stay at home mom. She always put her kids first and made us feel taken care of. Then I met Gela and met a different kind of inspiration and support. She was the the tough love type who believed in you, supported you and pushed you out of your comfort zone. They both were great examples of what a women should be on different sides of the spectrum.
Today I consider so many people to be a #GirlBoss. We live in a time where it is cool to be nice and it is cool to support other people. It is a time where we especially need this type of love and support. From working and being around women for so many years I have seen people who truly embody the meaning of #GirlBoss. Some people I know personally and some I don’t but I watch what they do and how they do things and it is admirable.
A few ladies who are a great example of this:
Kat I have met multiple times now from working with Who What Wear and she is the sweetest, most humble girl ever. You would never know who she is what cool things she gets to do by meeting her. She is just a nice person.
Beca is the President of Socialyte, which is the talent agency that I am with. She is equally smart, beautiful, selfless, funny and inspiring. She has created a genius agency with a work environment that is so comfortable and not cold at all like you can imagine most agencies are.
Khloe Kardashian – Revenge Body, Good American
Most people hear Khloe Kardashian and think of one of the sisters of the most famous family, but I think of Revenge Body and Good American. Khloe has used her fame and power for the good. Both her TV show and clothing line are about embracing your best self and being comfortable with who you are. It is so inspiring.
