I Did A Cleanse…
The past two weeks I have felt like my body wasn’t responding well to what I was eating and wasn’t processing things the way it needed to. I was out of ideas, was uncomfortable and a cleanse felt like it might be the best idea to help me reset.
I was hesitant to do this cleanse, and especially to talk about it, because I have always kind of been against them. A cleanse is obviously not a way of life and you can’t only eat liquids for the rest of your life. I also feel like it can promote unhealthy behavior or suggest that I am into these type of fad diets which I am not. I actually feel the opposite and hope to promote self love and body positivity on my page.
Ok, rant over. Back to me explaining my thoughts and why I am writing this post…
On this cleanse, every morning they have you drink celery juice before you have any other juices or smoothies for the day. I really did not want to do this part of the cleanse because a) celery juice sounds disgusting and b) it is so trendy. I felt like it was something that a celebrity talked about, didn’t even really work and everyone just jumped on the bandwagon and talked about. Reluctantly, I drank it and then I understood why other people do too.
They drink it because it works.
About 30 minutes to an hour after drinking it I had to go to the bathroom… and like 5 more times after that. I know this a little TMI but I think it’s important people talk about it so you know what to expect. As the days went on, it was a little less intense but it definitely helps flush your system and is actually something I think I will implement into my life even now that I am not on the cleanse.
Once I felt like something was “working”, whatever that means, I started researching more about celery juice. What does it do? Are there really benefits to it? Below is what I found.
Fights auto-immune disease
Helps restore adrenals
Critical for chronic acid reflux
Neutralizes and flushes toxins out of the liver
Kills shingles virus
Raises hydrochloric acid and helps the liver produce bile
Brings down toxic liver heat
Powerful weapon against sibo and bloating
Contains sodium cluster salts that are critical for the brain
Helps eradicate strep bacteria
There are so many health benefits that sound good to me and it doesn’t taste as bad as I expected it too. It is definitely something I am going to test out and stick with for a little longer and see how I continue to feel.
Have you been sucked into the celery juice craze yet or not yet? What are your thoughts on it. I’d love to hear them in the comments below!
