Weekend Getaway in San Francisco
I talked about this the last time I went to San Francisco in my mini travel guide, but sometimes a weekend getaway is the best kind. It’s a moment to step away from your real life without having to step away for too long. You come back feeling stressed having to play catch up. Whether it’s traveling locally or far away, stepping away from your everyday life even for a moment can help you look at things with a new perspective. This weekend in San Francisco was filled with an exciting meeting at Pinterest, art, walking and lots and lots of food.
Where I Stayed
One of my favorite parts of traveling is opening my eyes to new cultures, new lifestyles and pretty much new everything. I like doing things that are both outside of my everyday routine, along with doing things that fall in my daily life. Just to see how my life would fit into this city. Or what I might take away from doing something new.
This time, I definitely did something out of my normal day. Which is that I stayed in an area called the Tenderloin. The Tenderloin is known for being very unsafe, filled with druggies and homeless people. It’s not exactly your ideal location. The cool part is the city is growing so much that even areas like this are gentrifying. The hotel I stayed at is called The Proper San Francisco, which was designed by Kelly Wearstler and although it might not be your fanciest neighborhood yet, it is a really cool hotel. They have one of the coolest rooftop bars in town right now, too.
