Every year and season there is something new to look forward to, while also taking comfort in the fact that as much as things change, there are certain things that will remain the same. Today we’ll talk about fashion color.
Every season (and year) there are color trends that remain the same. Black, white, etc will always be staples in everyone’s closet which is nice to know and have that constancy. But what’s exciting is that every season there is also a new color and/or style that is trending. Earlier this year, I talked about what the three it girl colors were of that season and now I wanted to share a little bit more about what fall fashion colors you should be wearing this upcoming season.
Fall Fashion Colors 2018
Each season the team at Pantone Color Institute conducts a report called the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report. They by far have the most accurate reports and trend forecasting in my opinion. This season they have broken it down to 10 specific colors. I thought it would be helpful for me to break down a few of the colors I’m really seeing everywhere into further detail and what I think you’ll see lots of people wearing during New York Fashion Week (see what was trending in February at NYFW).
Color Trend #1: Olive Green
I am so happy that this color is “trending” this upcoming season. Not that I needed permission to wear this color if it wasn’t, because I love it that much, but it does mean that it’s a lot easier to find clothing items in this shade for me to shop. I have always loved olive green. It goes well with my skin coloring and it is such a pretty neutral. To me, it goes with literally every color and is just so chic.
Color Trend #2: Crocus Petal
This color is literally everywhere. Who would have thought lilac, or “crocus petal”, would have such a moment. I recently wore a blazer in this color from Shopbop and I felt amazing in it! It is such a special color and you can wear something so simple yet make such a statement.
Color Trend #3: Russet Orange
A bold color that can now be acceptable to wear for many occasions. I actually don’t own anything in this color yet but I am open to trying it! I think this is a color that might not look good on everyone’s skin tone but it is so fun and definitely feels high fashion to me. Zimmermann designed a simple silk dress in a version of this color and it is so chic. I could definitely see myself wearing this toned down version.
Color Trend #4: Valiant Poppy
Valiant Poppy is a bold, or as Pantone describes it, an “outgoing” red shade. This shade of red feels fun and fearless which is something I love. I love this polka dot Free People top.
Color Trend #5: Ceylon Yellow
Yellow was a color that I never put much thought into until recently and I seem to be so attracted to it. Also, yellow is just such a happy color and I think we all could use a little more happy in our lives.
Color Trend #6: Nebulas Blue
It is no shock that this is one of my favorite colors of the season since blue is one of my favorite colors in general. This Rag and Bone denim jacket is at the top of my list this season which is in the most perfect shade of blue.
MISC Classic Color’s Trending Now
Along with the more bold trendy colors, Pantone also breaks down what the Fall / Winter Classic Color Palette will be. These are colors that especially excite me because they are all what I already have in my wardrobe and love. This season it is a navy blue, creamy white, baby camel, soft gray, and a toasty burnished brown color. These are all such beautiful colors that go well together.
The Best Fall Fashion Items
I just wrote about how fashion has been going through an awkward transition period this last season but I think this upcoming season we will start to see a turnaround. While I still don’t love everything, I am loving some things (especially in these color families). Click below to see my favorite items right now.
