Edgy Minimalist Style Outfit
I have mentioned this many times before but I am someone who loves a simple minimalist outfit, but in the least expected way. In fact, it probably is not minimalist to anyone but me but I’m ok with that. To me, every outfit of mine has to have a twist with my personality in it and sometimes that means adding something edgy to it. I am someone who is all about being the most me I can be in every situation, and I like to include that even with my fashion. Fashion to me is actually one of the best ways someone can express themselves which is why I encourage everyone to find their own personal style.
Edgy Minimalist Style Tips
I think there are many ways to achieve this type of a look. Style bloggers, particularly at New York Fashion Week, really made this trendy but this is something I’ve incorporated into my own style since I was two. Literally. My mom said I stopped letting her dress me and I had a mind of my own. Makes sense that I’m here now doing as my career.
Tip #1: Don’t Over Do It
Nothing to me is worse than when you try so hard to accomplish a look, or really anything, and it looks forced. You end up throwing way too much on and you look overdone and fake rather than achieving that chic minimalist style you were probably hoping for. Remember: less is more.
Tip #2: Add A Pair Of On Trend Edgy Sunglasses
This is an easy and affordable way to achieve this type of an edgy look. You don’t have to buy any new pieces besides a pair of sunglasses and you can find something like this at so many places for cheap. For example, cat eye sunglasses have been super trendy this Summer and ASOS has a pair for $10.
Tip #3: Layer Your Jewelry
This is a tip I took from my days that I worked at Planet Blue in Malibu. I was obsessed with all of the jewelry at the store and would literally pile all of it on me and then would end up looking so cool haha. My takeaway: pile on all the jewelry. 😉
Tip #4: Opt For A Fanny Pack Instead Of A Purse
Swapping little expected accessories like a fanny pack (or belt bags) for a purse can change the look and feel of an outfit quickly. I actually have not tried out this fashion trend yet but I know it is very popular at the moment. If I were to wear a fanny pack, I would probably choose something like this Topshop Clear Print Belt Bag. It is simple, chic, and committing to the trend. I also like that you can wear it both around your waist or around your shoulder, like it is pictured on the model.
Edgy Minimalist Fashion Brands I Love
To be honest, I feel like pretty much any brand and any item of clothing can be made to be both minimalist and edgy if you know how to style it in the right way for you, but I do think there are some brands that are best suited for this type of a look. My favorite brands to do this with are Topshop, ASOS, and Revolve Clothing. These are three very different brands with different price points and all have a little something different but are a great starting point.
