Creating High Low Outfits
Creating a high low outfit is one of my favorite things to do. I love being able to find affordable items that look luxury, and pairing them with higher end items. It adds an interesting element to the look and it takes creativity to be able to put this together. Typically I like to put an outfit like this together in a more understated way. In general, I wear more muted colors and simple looks – but on this specific day I felt the need for something fun. The day happened like this: I walked into Target looking in the home section because Target has EVERYTHING, and instead I walked by a bright pink jumpsuit from Who What Wear and left with no home goods, but a jumper. From there, I knew I was going to have fun when I got home.
Best Items To Create A High Low Outfit
Creating a successful high low outfit takes a few things. For one, it’s knowing where to shop for these affordable items. My favorite places to look for this are Target, ASOS and HM. Second, it’s knowing which items to style this type of a look with. In my opinion, shoes and handbags are the best items to use for your investment pieces and then use the other items as your more affordable items. My reason for this is because shoes and bags are great items to invest in and that you can have forever. Nordstrom and Bloomingdales have a great selection of these type of items and they both have many different price ranges. For example, I wore this Who What Wear jumpsuit with a Furla handbag and Stella McCartney shoes. It felt like the perfect balance for a high low outfit and this jumper looks like it costs way more than $37.
