My Thoughts This Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holiday’s. It is a time for me to reflect, to slow down, to spend quality time with family and friends, and to appreciate all the amazing things in my life. These are a few of the things I’ve been thinking about this TGiving.
What I’m Thankful For
This year I feel there is especially a lot to be thankful for. For starters, I am thankful for tradition. I love that every year there is a day dedicated to reflecting on how lucky we all are. I love that it’s a day where people take the time to appreciate even the little things and give thanks to the things we DO have, rather than what we DON’T have. I’m thankful for my family getting together every year and making a weekend out of it. I am thankful for the busy, full life I have. I’m thankful for Matt. I’m thankful for each and every one of my followers. I am so lucky to have this platform where I get to connect with people all over the world in such a unique, special and intimate way. I’m thankful for health, and I’m thankful for a faith that I’ve built. Over the years, I have been through a lot of different things — to some may feel big, and to some may feel small — but what I have learned is that I can get through absolutely anything. Today, I am so thankful that I can live my life knowing that no matter, I will always figure it out and in the end I will always be ok.
My Favorite Thanksgiving Quotes
- Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough. – Oprah Winfrey
- Give thanks for a little and you will have a lot.
- I am grateful for what I am and have.
- Thanksgiving is a word of action.
Thoughts For Friends
One of the best parts about growing up is that your friends become your extended family. Family you are born to, but friends you get to choose. I am lucky that I happen to be obsessed with my family and be super close with them, but not everyone is as fortunate. I love the idea of Friendsgiving’s and how it really compliments how the holiday started. Thanksgiving is a day that represents freedom and the friends we choose to treat as family are another proof of freedom.
Thanksgiving Dinner and Day
Dinner and the day during Thanksgiving in my family is alway super casual and that’s my favorite part. We typically spend it either at my parents house or in Laguna Beach and we spend the day all together and do absolutely nothing. We go for a walk together, we work out together, we hang by the pool (one of the many perks of living in California is year round beautiful weather), we have an intimate dinner where we go around the table and say what we are thankful for that year and then follow dinner with either games like Taboo or we go see a movie. Every year we do the same thing and every year it is amazing.
The key to dressing on Thanksgiving is finding something that is equally comfortable as it is cute. Thanksgiving is a day that I like to be super comfortable (preferably clothes that my stomach can get full in) but I also like to be a little bit more dressed up than my work out leggings. This year, one of my favorite outfits for the holiday is an oversized suit. I wrote earlier this week above women’s suiting and what a big trend it is right now, so I figured carrying this suit trend into my Thanksgiving was the perfect time.
