Removing Your MakeUp
Removing your makeup can feel like the last thing you want to do at the end of a long day…and especially after a long night out. Who wants to go through the process of taking off the their face makeup, scrubbing off concealer, and removing their stubborn mascara? I definitely don’t. While this is the last thing most of us want to do at night, it is really important.
Why It’s Important
One answer for why it’s important is everything but here is the breakdown:
- not removing your make up before bed can clog your pores and cause impurities.
- going to sleep with make up on can show signs of fatigue and dullness in your skin
- when we sleep, our skin regenerates and when we go to sleep with makeup on we are stopping this process from happening
If you’re already experiencing these issues, definitely keep reading. You also might be in need of a skin detox from the inside out. For more on skin detoxing, see this post.
What To Do About It
Wash your face! No matter what. And guess what?! It’s not so bad. I used to dread taking off my make up because it felt like it slowed down my getting ready for bed process and I’d often times irritate my skin from rubbing so hard to get it all off. If I didn’t irritate my skin, I would find that makeup was still left on my skin after washing my face. I did a lot of research and tested out a lot of products to see which work best and for what.
MakeUp Removers I Love:
Dermalogica recently sent me this and I just tried it yesterday for the first time but believe me when I say it is life changing! You apply a pump of it in dry hands and on your face dry and rub it around. It smells amazing and is actually kind of relaxing…reminds me of being at a spa. Then, you rinse it off with water. Literally EVERYTHING comes off in one rinse. It is so gentle on your face and amazing.
Before I was introduced to Dermalogica’s Pre Cleanse this has been my favorite most recently. I love how clean your skin feels after and that you don’t even have to rinse your face if you don’t want to. It’s a great quick step, especially if you’re on a plane and don’t want to go rinse your rinse in a sink. Ever wondered what micellar water is and why it works so well? Or am I the only one? If you have: micellar water is tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules (micelles) suspended in soft water. This combination helps clean out the dirt and impurities without drying your skin.
Neutrogena is always a classic and reliable skin brand to use. They are typically Dermatologist tested and approved and they are consistent. Their make up wipes were one of the first around and I feel like started the make up wipe trend…which is genius. It is so easy and practical and I keep them in my car to use after the gym. I hate the feeling of having a sweaty face on my home from the gym (even if I don’t have make up on) so often times use these for in-between a work out to home. I also use their Oil Free Sunscreen.Which make up removers have you tried? Do you like them or not? Let me know in the comments below so I can try more out and add to my list!
